watercolor artist from El Dorado, Arkansas
Artist Reception January 28, 6-8pm

El Dorado's own award winning artist Sandy Bennett returns to our galleries with a new exhibition of colorful creations for a new year. After teaching in the public schools for twelve years, she retired to paint full time. Her primary love is watercolor, but she enjoys experimenting with oils, pastels, and other media as well. The title of her show, “Dessert First”, is a reflection of her daily mantra: “Life is short – Paint fast – Eat dessert first.” Sandy says she paints because “every day is another step on an amazing journey, and a lifetime is not enough time to paint.”

Sandy's artwork has been juried into several national competitions, which has earned her numerous awards. She enjoys experimenting with different techniques and mediums. She is a member of Outdoor Painters Society, Mid-Southern Watercolorists, Arkansas Pastel Society, AR League of Artists, and Signature member of Texas Watercolor Society. Honors include Bosque Classic (2010) Paint America (2009) Paint the Parks (2008, 2010) and one of 25 Arkansas artists to exhibit at Rockefeller Institute (2008, 2010). She is represented by Backwoods Art & Frame, El Dorado, AR - Gallery Central, Hot Springs, AR - River's Edge Gallery, Kerrville, TX.
