Parts are available for 7 women, 8 men, 1 dog, lots of orphans & New Yorkers in SAAC’s upcoming Youth Community Theatre Production of “Annie, KIDS” sponsored by Kiwanis Club of El Dorado. The audition call for youth, grades 2-8, will be held on January 22 and 24, 2019, at 3:45pm at SAAC. Production dates are April 12-13, 2019. There is no fee for participation.

Auditioners should fill out an audition form and review the rehearsal schedule. Click Here to Download the Audition Form and Instructions. Children should plan to be at SAAC for auditions at 3:45pm on both Tuesday and Thursday, January 22 and 24. Everyone will be taught a song and some simple dance steps. Wear appropriate footwear and be prepared to move.

Two songs will be used in auditions; N.Y.C. and Maybe. We will teach the songs at the audition, but for those that want to listen to and learn the songs before arriving for the audition, look at the bottom of the page for video links to the songs. Those wishing to be considered for a primary role will be asked to read at auditions – no preparation required.

“Annie, KIDS” allows a great deal of flexibility in casting. In our show, only Annie, Grace, Oliver Warbucks and Miss Hannigan are gender-specific roles. For this reason, we will be considering all auditioning actors for all roles. All races and ethnic groups are encouraged to audition. Most roles in this show require singing. “The Annie movie/comic strip/play we all know and love is decidedly “girl heavy.” I have chosen to go a different direction. Most roles will be cast regardless to gender, so don’t worry. Boys will have plenty of parts,” said Hannah Davis, director for this production.

With plenty of parts to go around, including featured roles as well as ensemble parts for orphans, servants and tourists, “Annie KIDS” is ideal for productions involving all types of theatre experience. The primary roles to be cast in the show will be Annie, the redheaded streetwise urchin; Oliver Warbucks, the eccentric billionaire hosting Annie for a week; Miss Hannigan, who runs the orphanage; Grace Farrell, the classy secretary; Rooster Hannigan, the conman brother of Miss Hannigan; Lily St. Regis, Rooster’s girlfriend; Annie’s Friends: Molly/Mark, Kate/Kent, Tessie/Timmy, Duffy/Danny, July/John and Pepper/Piper; and Sandy, Annie’s dog, and a host of New Yorkers and orphans, boys and girls.

Davis said about the production, “I have loved Annie for a very large part of my life. I think the script has a lot of opportunities for turning a well-loved story on its head; and that is something that I really enjoy doing.”

SAAC will also host a Pre-Audition Party on stage with the directors on January 10, from 5:00-6:00pm. This party is a great time to meet the director and her team and get answers to audition questions you may have. The show info will be available for anyone wanting to get a step ahead.
