SAAC is now registering students for their spring Arts Academy classes. To kick off the year, the teachers are hosting a fun and rocking “Peach Party” onstage at SAAC on Saturday, January 4 at 2:30 p.m. Inspired by the “James and the Giant Peach, JR” youth theatre spring production, the party will be Peach-tastic! All students and their parents are invited.
Come join a fantastic group of teachers: Gay Bechtelheimer, Mike Means, Maria Villegas, Stephanie Lowrey, Elizabeth Wood, Amy Allen, Charlsie Langley, Kordelia Leggett and Hannah Davis, as they instruct in art, ballet, drama, graphic arts and music.
For the spring semester, SAAC offers a lineup of classes similar to fall, with just a few time changes to the schedule. However, one big change to be aware of is that Glee will now be offered for grades 2-6 and has moved to Wednesdays at 3:45pm. Come and have fun onstage singing the hits with music artist Amy Allen!
The “Peach Party” is a great time to party with your friends and visit with the teachers. There will be refreshments, a group mural painting project, and catchy tunes from the “James and the Giant Peach, JR” musical.
If your child wants to be a star, there is no better time than now to take the stage. The directors and staff of “James and the Giant Peach, JR” will be on hand at the party to answer audition questions and help you get to know the show. Open to grades 2-8, the youth theatre production will begin with auditions held on January 11 and 13.
This show features endearing songs such as “Middle of a Moment” and “On Your Way Home,” along with fun dance numbers like “Shake It Up” and even funnier comedic pieces like “Plump and Juicy.” While “James and the Giant Peach JR” may not be a musical everyone has heard of yet, it really is great fun!
So come “get your Peach on” and sign up for the SAAC Arts Academy! Spring classes begin January 21-18. For more please call the SAAC office at 870-862-5474.
