The South Arkansas Arts Center announces a beginners’ watercolor workshop to be taught by local artist Gay Bechtelheimer beginning Monday, September 23, and meeting each Monday for five weeks. The class will be held from 6:00-7:30pm on Monday in the upstairs classroom at SAAC.

Bechtelheimer said, “This class will be an introduction to the medium of watercolor with an emphasis on aesthetic application, processes involved, and materials used.”

Materials needed are: Watercolor paints (all smallest tube – Daniel Smith brand) in New Gamboge, Alizarin Crimson or Quinacridone Red and Indanthrone Blue; 2 sheets D’Arches 140lb cold press paper; #8 round brush; Masonite drawing board; a container for water; paper towels; and painters tape. The water container can be Tupperware, a large yogurt container, or something similar. Paper towels and tape can be purchased locally. All other supplies can be ordered online from dickblick.com.

This class is limited to 10 participants and will sell out quickly. Cost for the five-week class is $150.
