The box office now open for tickets to the Youth Community Theatre production of “Annie KIDS”, which will run April 12-13, with the curtain going up on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 11am and 2pm. Tickets are $5 for all with open seating. “Annie KIDS” is sponsored by the El Dorado chapter of Kiwanis International.
“When asked what is it that makes Annie timeless, one could say it’s the songs or the curly, red-headed girl who tugs at your heart strings, but for me, I would say it’s hope,” said Music Director Cassie Hickman. “From the first moment and woven throughout, there is a thread or a dream that says, tomorrow will be different. Things will work out and be made right, just keep holding on and believing. No matter who you are: young, old, rich, or poor, that strikes a chord within us all.”
Based on the classic comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, the show includes a book and score by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin.
Lynn Gunter, the show’s producer, said of the play, “The thing that stands out about ‘Annie KIDS’ is it doesn’t look like a kids’ production. It looks like it’s a step above. They are singing at a higher level than a kids’ production, their choreography is at a harder level than most kids’ productions. The audience is in for a much bigger treat than they realize. The level of talent that the director is pulling from them is next level!”
