SAAC is launching Reaching Higher, our first capital campaign in more than two decades. The time has come to address the changing needs of our community and improve how our facility functions. This project will improve accessibility, provide greater security, and produce a more efficient traffic flow within the building. You are essential to the success of our next chapter. The mission of the 2022 Capital Campaign, Reaching Higher, is to raise funds for an addition to and renovation of our historic Fifth Street Building to meet the changing needs of our community, including addressing ADA accessibility, building safety, and growing our membership.

•  The educational space will become accessible to all our guests, regardless of their age or ability, through elevator access added on the west side of the building. The addition will also include the construction of new, accessible restroom facilities on both floors and an additional stairway.
•  Student safety will be increased greatly by consolidating the access to the upstairs classrooms, relocating the computer lab, and creating a front-door check-in station. We will also bring our building up to code, including appropriate stairways, exits, and fire suppression.
•  Finally, this project will expand our ability to serve as the cultural touchstone of our community. A bold, accessible façade will ensure that SAAC looks as welcoming, inclusive and exciting on the outside as it always feels on the inside, and a new kitchen will open vast opportunities for events and partnerships.

By enhancing the lives of the people we serve while ensuring that SAAC continues to recruit new, diverse communities through our doors, this project beautifully blends our current needs with our future horizons.
