SAAC’s Youth Community Theatre program presents “Annie KIDS” for the 2019 spring production. Just the name, ‘Annie’, sparks excitement in children and adults alike. The story and the music weave a promise of hope that the sun will come out tomorrow. Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, “Annie KIDS” features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.

Set in New York City in the 1930’s, Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil plans, finding a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

“The opportunity to be a part of this play is magical. The kids are already abuzz talking about it!” said Cassie Hickman the productions Music Director. “NYC, the Big Apple. It’s the place everyone wants to be, but life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, ‘It’s The Hard-Knock Life,’ especially when you’re alone. It’s easy to want to throw the towel in. But there’s a secret that makes life much more enjoyable… it’s friends! They are there to help pick you up when you get knocked down, to join with you to help you get the job done. Well, for‘Annie’, we need friends… we need you! We need your voice, your acting skills, your friendship! Come join us! It may be a ‘Hard-Knock Life’ at times, but with friends we will have a great time performing ‘Annie’!”

The El Dorado charter of Kiwanis International is generously sponsoring the Youth Theatre program for the fourth year. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
