SAAC is hosting Little Rock artist Lauren Meredith and her show entitled “Make Your Walls Smile” to the Price and Merkle Galleries through May 30th.

The exhibit is open  for viewing for small groups from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. Call SAAC at 870-862-5474 for more information.

An acrylics and oils artist originally from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Meredith has lived in Little Rock for the past thirteen years. She attended college at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree with a minor in business management in 2003. After working years in management, she found herself continually going back to the canvas. With the encouragement of family and friends, she left the corporate world to become a full time artist. “I have been so blessed to be able to call myself a full time artist for the past nine years,” said Meredith. “I also have a beautiful little girl who inspires me to be a better person. Being a full time artist allows me to be able to spend more time with her too, so in my eyes I consider myself very fortunate.”

Meredith, who describes her work as bold, different and funky said, “I create what inspires me most, a lot being my love for Arkansas. Skylines, horseracing, portraits, sports, pets, and abstracts seem to be what I like to paint the most. I tend to find myself using bright and bold colors with lots of different textures. What I enjoy about painting is that sometimes what looks like a mistake, turns into the most amazing part of the piece. It teaches me to see purpose in the mess of life. Embracing that mess as good and part of the overall plan, even when it seems like the very opposite. Working together with my clients and designers to create the perfect piece for them as individuals is one of my favorite parts of my job, other than getting to see their faces when they receive their artwork. That really inspires me.”

“The art community in El Dorado is growing. I have a lot of friends there that have wanted me to bring my art to SAAC, so I am very excited be coming to show there!”

Meredith’s art is also shown at White Goat and The Full Moon, both in Little Rock, and at Gallery Central in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
