The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit (originally titled Portraits d’enfants). The painting depicts four young girls, the daughters of Edward Darley Boit, in their family’s Paris apartment. It was painted in 1882 and is now exhibited in the new Art of the Americas Wing of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

After many requests, Gay will revisit the work of John Singer Sargent, one of the earliest artists she featured in an Art Talk. “Rather than repeat an art talk, I have chosen to take a deeper view of the artist, their work, and how it resonates in our culture today,” she says. “I cannot think of another artist more suited to our attention than John Singer Sargent, one of the nineteenth century’s most brilliant artists.”

The free event will begin with refreshments starting at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby, followed by Bechtelheimer’s presentation onstage.
