Open call for student artwork! Is your child a budding artist? If so, we wants to show off their artwork! Enter them into the 2021 Student Art Show and Competition. The entry deadline for this student show is February 1, and it is open to grades K-12. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Students may enter 2-D, 3-D and multi-media original artwork at $5.00 per entry. All artwork should be unframed and delivered to the SAAC office. Sale of student art is encouraged during the exhibition. Sponsored by William P. Cook and Associates, PLLC, this fun and lively exhibit will be on display February 9-24.
Gallery manager Kelly Campbell said, “Students who enter the competition have the opportunity to sell their work if they wish, and it is always a great pleasure to notify a student that their artwork has sold. Any time students sell artwork, they are so delighted! It validates their belief in themselves, and many times it encourages them to continue creating art. I’ve seen it happen countless times, as an art teacher in the public school system and here at SAAC in previous student competitions.” She added, “We do not take any commission on student art sales in this exhibit; all proceeds go directly to the student. I’d love to see lots of student sales, and I hope everyone comes out to see (and buy) the artwork in the SAAC Student Competition in February.”
Cash prizes will be awarded. Work will be divided into four divisions for judging: K-2 Grade, 3-5 Grade, 6-9 Grade, and 10-12 Grade. Selected from all entries received, the $100 Grand Prize will go to the Best of Show, and additional cash prizes will be awarded in each division for First Place ($50), Second Place ($25), and Third Place ($15). The awards reception for this student show will be held online Saturday, February 9 at 2:00pm with judge Gay Bechtelheimer announcing the winners on SAAC’s Facebook page.
