The youth theatre production of “Doctor Dolittle, JR” will host auditions on January 20 & 22 with the production presented on April 30 & May 1-2.
Have you ever wanted to talk to the animals? Maybe introduce yourself to a Pushmi-Pullyu or ride on the Great Pink Sea Snail named Jean-Claude? If so, then we have a show for you! The beginning of the adventure starts at the South Arkansas Arts Center, January 20 and 22 when we will have auditions. The journey will take us to places you’ve never seen and you won’t want to miss!
Youth Theatre productions are open to all students in grades 2-8.
At Auditions on January 20, everyone will be asked to sing a little, read a little and dance a little. Select one of the short song-cuts and a monologue provided by the directors to present. Memorization is not required. Monologues and music are posted online, in SAAC lobby, and will be available at auditions. Everyone will be taught a short dance or movement exercise at auditions. Arrive early to fill out an audition form and have a headshot taken.
For Callbacks, the director will post a list of anyone that needs to attend and, if needed, provide audition material from the show. New faces will be auditioned before Callbacks begin on January 22.
Rehearsal Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday 4:15-6:15pm
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly, with three Saturday rehearsals 10am-3pm and possible extra rehearsals on the week of production. Some roles may not be required to attend every rehearsal. Please review the schedule to make sure you and your child can make the commitment. A mandatory Parents’ Meeting will follow rehearsal January 27 at 6pm where further information on scheduling and production needs will be provided.
