Convergence features a collection of abstract monotype prints by El Dorado artist Gregory Shyne. Drawing inspiration from a lifelong fascination with both science and the visual arts, Shyne explores the relationships between shape, form, line, and pattern through layered compositions that balance artistic intuition with scientific curiosity. The exhibit will be on display August 3 through September 25 in the Lobby Gallery with an opening reception on Monday, August 3, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. honoring the August gallery artists. Guests are invited to meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and explore the three new exhibitions.
Growing up throughout Ohio and the Midwest during the 1960s, Shyne developed an appreciation for pure abstraction that continues to influence his work today. His background in technology, combined with interests in psychology and physics, informs the organic and graphical imagery found throughout the exhibition.
“Convergence reflects the way I see patterns interacting within my work,” said Shyne. “Using monotype printmaking with oils and watercolors, I explore the meeting point of artistic intuition and scientific curiosity.”
