After a yearlong hiatus, the South Arkansas Arts Center is thrilled to reintroduce one of the public’s favorite programming opportunities: Art Talks with Gay Bechtelheimer.
The 2025-2026 season will begin with “She Made It!” on Thursday, September 10. The relaxed, free event begins with refreshments in the gallery at 6:30 p.m., followed by Bechtelheimer’s presentation from the stage.
“Art Talks reflect SAAC’s commitment to lifelong learning, encouraging us to look more closely, ask questions, and expand our understanding of art and its place throughout history,” says Bechtelheimer.
For the September Art Talk, Bechtelheimer will examine the contributions of women artists throughout history. Entitled “She Made It!” the talk will give voice to these extraordinary women artists, the challenges they overcame, and the artistic legacy that they rightfully earned.
“Though long denied access, recognition, and credit, women artists have continuously shaped the history of art,” says Bechtelheimer. “Their resilience against formidable odds established a precedent for future generations to follow and demonstrates to us that creativity thrives when boundaries are challenged.”
After the lecture, please join us in the gallery for the unveiling of the newest accession to the SAAC permanent collection.
The event is free of charge and is presented with open seating.
