Lend Me A Tenor Cast

The South Arkansas Art Center announces the cast of the upcoming production of Ken Ludwig’s “Lend Me A Tenor”. The Teague Auto Group and Southern Bancorp sponsored comedy play opens in the Callaway Theater on March 3rd at 7:30p.m.

El Dorado’s own Austin Barrow will be directing this hilarious play, and after auditions has selected talented actors from across the area. Filling the role of Tito Morelli will be Steve Harrell, with Laura Barrow playing his overly dramatic wife, Maria. The remainder of the cast will feature Deondre Jackson as Saunders, General Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, Joel Cheshier as Max, assistant to Saunders, and Emily Cole as Max’s girlfriend, Maggie. Matthew Cordell will play the Bellhop, Amy Smith will play Diana, and Julia, chairman of the Opera Guild, will be played by Joanna Benson.

“Lend Me A Tenor” is set in September, 1934. Saunders, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is primed to welcome world famous, Tito Morelli, Il Stupendo, the greatest tenor of his generation, to appear for one night only as Otello. The star arrives late and, through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. His pulse is so low that Saunders and his assistant, Max, believe he is dead. In a frantic attempt to salvage the evening, Saunders persuades Max to get into Morelli’s costume and fool the audience into thinking he’s Il Stupendo. A sensation on Broadway and in London’s West End, this madcap, screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter.
