Judy Falkoff’s oil paintings will hang in the Merkle and Price Galleries January 5 – February 5. The artist reception will be January 16, 6-8pm.
Falkoff was born in Ferriday, Louisiana, and lives in Magnolia, Arkansas, with her husband Mark. She has always been drawn to art. Her first inspiration came from the Egyptian murals in her third grade art class. As an adult, she began painting in acrylic and later transitioned to oils, which she uses today. Many of the artistic techniques she uses, including the Flemish technique, she taught herself. Judy studied under Jeff Legg, a still life artist, who inspired her to paint what was in her heart. She feels that painting is a gift, but with dedication and raw emotion, anyone can create pieces that draw others in. Judy is most inspired by Spanish artists like Joaquin Sorolla because of their use of color and light that creates the vibrancy in their paintings. She uses lots of color and all types of nature as subjects for her artwork. She now dedicates all of her time to her painting.
