Join us for an Open House at SAAC on Saturday night from 5:30-7:30pm. Stop by to visit with artist Doug Walton about his exhibit and with director Gary Hall to find out more about auditioning for Deathtrap. We’ll also welcome assistant director Emma Lawyer, this is her first project at SAAC, so be sure to be stop by and say hi!

“Deathtrap is an actor’s dream: meaty characters, physicality, and the chance to take the audience on a rollercoaster ride of laughs and screams,” said Hall. “The play has complex characters that open the doors on a world of possibilities for the actor to explore. Join me at the Open House to learn more.” Auditions for Deathtrap will be held on September 19-20 at 6:30pm with the production showing November 4-6 and 10-12 in the Callaway Theater.

The exhibition “Jubilee: 50 Years of Teaching, 80 Years of Life with M Douglas Walton” during the month of September. Walton’s exhibition, based on color, light, and circles, will be on display in the Merkle, Price, and Lobby Galleries September 3-30. Stop by the open house and meet the artist from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on the evening of Saturday, September 10th. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Included in the exhibition are three pieces that Walton refers to as “reveals.” Each “reveal” is one large canvas of art covered by 100’s of smaller canvases of art. Patrons can purchase and take these smaller pieces on the spot, thus “revealing” part of the larger art piece underneath. Once all of the smaller canvases have been purchased, then the entire artwork underneath will be “revealed.”
