Emmaline Rahaim followed the yellow brick road downtown during our Tic-Tac-Oz contest and won a prize at the end of the rainbow. During this summer’s production of “The Wizard of Oz,” the show’s sponsor Murphy USA collaborated on a trivia contest testing your ‘Ozian” knowledge. Murphy USA representative Luanne Lampman accompanied Emmaline during her recent shopping spree to our local Wal-Mart, where she exchanged her winning gift card for a DSL camera, tripod, and SD memory card.

Participating downtown businesses sported posters featuring questions and answers in various categories. Game players visited each merchant to complete their Tic-Tac-Toe cards. Completed cards were dropped off in a giant ruby slipper, located in the lobby, and the winning card was drawn during a final performance. Emmaline explained her challenge, “I was downtown looking in all the stores with the posters. I had Tic-Tac-Toe several ways but I just needed the one more. I had a hard time searching for that final square.”

“We are so appreciative to Murphy USA and South Arkansas Art Center for the Tic Tac Toe prize. Emmaline had a lot of fun playing the game. It was a very creative idea! We walked around the square looking for posters and she finally found the character she needed at Main Street Pizza,” said Emmaline’s mother Shelley Landis.
Shelley also said, “I have said many times that SAAC has helped raise my children. I am so thankful for SAAC and all the caring staff that have encouraged and taught my children. They feel ‘at home’ there. I am also thankful for a supportive community and for companies like Murphy USA who understand the contributions SAAC makes to our youth.”
