From the novice to the accomplished, artwork by members of the South Arkansas Arts Center will be on display. The annual exhibition has long been a member favorite where you’re never quite sure what you will see. Discover something you might not have known about your friends and neighbors as our artists reveal their hidden and not so hidden talents. The William P. Cook & Associates, PLLC sponsored exhibition fills the SAAC galleries from November 3 through December 6 with an artist reception Thursday, November 5, 6:30-8:00.
The showcase is a great time to acquire a work of art from a local artist as many of the pieces will be for sale. Visual Arts Committee Member and avid art collector Camille Daniels said, “The membership show is my favorite show of the year. I love it because I get to see what my favorite local artists and friends have been up to artistically over the last year. As a child I can’t say I knew any artists. We have a vibrant art community in El Dorado and its surrounding areas. All my children grew up as friends with working artists which helped them develop a broad view of the world. We have genuine art displayed in our home created by many artists who we are proud to call friends and I’m always excited to see what they’ll exhibit at the Membership Show!”
The annual, non-competitive, exhibition allows members a chance to express their “inner-self” through the act of creation. Once again the competitive edge has been removed allowing members to either create new work or select favorite pieces from their body of work created over the years. Artists have until October 30 to prepare and deliver their work to SAAC to be included in the exhibition. The only rule is that entries can not previously shown in past Membership Shows. For more information about entering go to the Show Prospectus page.
