The visual arts committee of the South Arkansas Arts Center is hosting its annual SAAC Membership Showcase and invites all area artists to submit their work for the exhibit. The Membership Showcase will be held December 1-17 in the SAAC Galleries. Artists who would like to participate in the show but are not current SAAC members are welcome to become members when they enter their artwork. All artwork needs to be delivered to SAAC by 5:00pm on Monday, November 29.

Area artists are welcome to select two favorite works, created at any point during their lifetime, and deliver them to SAAC for the Membership Show. The only rule is that work shown in the previous year’s Membership Show may not be submitted again. New SAAC members may submit two entries for free when they join SAAC. For existing members, the first entry is free and the second entry is $10. Participants are encouraged to sell their work, but it is not a requirement. Entries for the show may be delivered to SAAC between 9am and 5pm on Monday, November 22, Tuesday, November 23, or on Monday, November 29. Artists may pick up their works on Saturday, December 18 between 11:00am and 1:00pm or after the new year on January 3 and 4 between 9:00am and 5:00 pm.

As in past years – anything goes! All 2-D and 3-D fine arts media will be accepted, including photography, computer-generated art, jewelry, video, fiber art, and multi-media. 2-D works must be completely ready for gallery display which means framed in a clean, neat and professional manner with a secure wire hanger. 3-D works and multi-media presentations must also be display ready.

“At SAAC, it’s an essential part of our mission to be a place where artists of all kinds have the opportunity to create and exhibit their work,” said Laura Allen, SAAC executive director. “The Membership Show is great way to get involved with the artistic community and even sell your work!”

The SAAC Membership Show is sponsored by William P. Cook and Associates. The artist reception will be hosted Saturday, December 2 from 5:00-6:30pm.
