Come enjoy Corks and Canvas night with local artist Chris Stone on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 6:00-9:00pm. Corks & Canvas is an art class for non-artists who have always wanted to paint. In January, participants will have the opportunity to choose one of two projects.
For the first choice, Chris will be demonstrating a quick and easy acrylic painting of a winter scene. Stone said of the process, “I enjoy painting in a loose fashion. It’s an easy, fun way to paint with others because you don’t want to be so precise and detail oriented. You can divide your focus with fellowship! This style of painting is meant to give an impression rather than a story. January is cold and gray, whether we have snow in the area or not. I want to evoke that January feel.”
She will provide step by step instructions with the second choice of projects. “I want to give our participants an option. If they are less comfortable with freestyle painting of a winter landscape, I can provide canvases with a birdhouse family sketched on to paint in colors that they choose.” The $40 fee covers all supplies and snacks. This class is limited to 15. Those taking the class should bring their favorite libation and get ready to have a good time!
Each month Corks and Canvas is conducted by a different art instructor, who takes the class through the step by step process to complete a work of art in three hours. For more information or to register for this class, please call the SAAC office at 870-862-5474.
