Learn how to add depth and creative expression to your work with the use of spackling in a one day workshop with the artist.
Want to learn about adding textured relief to your skill set? Come play with spackling! Build layers, increase the depth of your under paintings and just enjoy a day of textured play! We will explore different applications of the medium as a surface builder/ under drawing and then work into it with acrylic and oil pastels. Add a little three dimensional presence to your paintings. We’ll work from a still life setup and you will go home with a fresh new masterpiece!
Schedule: The day will start with Melanie demonstrating her innovative techniques to create textural painting surfaces. The rest of the morning the class will build their own creative three dimensional relief painting surfaces. After lunch the class will add color to the work. Class will end at 3pm, but feel free to stay and work until 6pm in open studio if you like.
Supplies: The instructor will provide all the basics needed including spackling compound, boards, acrylic paint, oil pastels, sculpting tools, and supplies for everyone in the class to share to complete a piece of art. Artists are welcome to bring additional oil pastels, paints, or other art supplies they may have on hand to work with.
Cost: $90 for members and $115 for new members (includes Friend Level membership)
