Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia features Gay Bechtelheimer’s “Collective” in the Brinson Art Gallery March 1-31.
Bechtelheimer is a teaching artist from El Dorado, Arkansas. The body of work includes pastel, watercolor, mixed media, and acrylic. It represents the artist’s practice from 2016 to the present. “I have a visual, cerebral and emotional connection with what captivates my attention, what I want to express, be it commonplace or sublime. My art reflects what I have been looking at and thinking about, a vision I want to share”, she says.
Bechtelheimer’s work is characterized by brilliant color, dramatic contrast and distinct mood. Her work can be found in both corporate and private collections throughout the country. Corporate collections of note are The UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Little Rock, AR, UAMS Reynolds Center on Aging, Little Rock, AR, Alice-Sydney Oil Company, El Dorado, AR and South Arkansas Orthopaedics, El Dorado, AR.
Bechtelheimer is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and, in addition to teaching at North West Elementary School, she teaches classes at SAAC.
