SAAC reminds artists that there is still time to get your favorite photo framed and ready for its upcoming annual photography competition, “The Viewfinder”. Entries for this competition must be delivered to SAAC by February 3, 2020. Limit 2 pieces per person with a non-refundable entry fee of $10 each for SAAC members and $15 for general public. New SAAC members are eligible for one free entry.

The exhibit will be on display in the Merkle and Price galleries February 5-26, 2020. A total of $600 in cash prizes will be awarded at the artist’s reception on Friday, February 21, from 5:00-6:30 pm.

W.L. Cook , managing member at William P. Cook and Associates and annual sponsor for this event, said, “We are always happy to be a part of SAAC’s art community, whether theatre, art, or music, and are proud to live in a town that values all of these incredible opportunities. We look forward to sponsoring the photography competition.”

“The Viewfinder” explores the interests and imagination of shutterbugs throughout our community and beyond. The easy accessibility of digital cameras has dramatically expanded the environment surrounding photography, opening the medium to practitioners from all walks of life and levels of experience.

Steven Ochs will serve as juror for this year’s competition. He is a Professor of Art at Southern Arkansas University with 37 years of experience in education. He has been serving as the Chair of the Department of Art and Design and is the owner of Public Art Walks, which specializes in public art projects utilizing decorative concrete.
