The El Dorado Film Festival, presented by the South Arkansas Arts Center and sponsored by Suddenlink, is pleased to announce the festival’s full schedule of independent films from around the world. Thirty films from ten countries will be screened over the course of two days, November 13 and 14, at the in-person, socially distanced festival, to be held at the Murphy Arts District.
Several full-length feature films will be screened, including two narrative features, “Small Town Wisconsin” and “Taking the Fall”. Documentary features will include “Mamakrom” and “17 Seconds.”
Festival director Alexander Jeffery’s feature debut, “Molto Bella” will also make its El Dorado debut during the festival. Filmed in Italy, the project has deep south Arkansas roots. Not only was “Molto Bella” executive produced by a local team, several El Dorado natives traveled to Italy to work on the project.
The event will also include the first in-person screening of the top five submissions from the Louisiana Film Prize, which was held virtually this year. Festival-goers can see the winning film, “Untitled Post-Baby Project,” and the rest of the top five short films, which include “Nice to Meet You,” “Double Date Night,” “Imminent,” and “Away.”
The short-film block will also include a selection of Arkansas made short films, family friendly short films, and a diverse and wonderful collection of narrative and documentary short films of all genres.
“I’m so excited by our line-up of films for this year’s festival,” said Jeffery. “I think there is a little something in there for everyone and I’m thrilled that we get to give these filmmakers a big-screen experience.”
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for this year’s event, organizers will use a system of socially distanced seating pods, which allow groups of up to six to be seated together. Masks will be required (unless eating or drinking concessions), sanitization stations will be readily available throughout the venue, and surfaces will be sanitized every two hours.
Weekend passes to the festival are available for $30 and include access to all films. Attendees can purchase all seats in a pod of six in a single transaction for $150, a $30 discount. Tickets are available through the South Arkansas Arts Center Box Office.
